The Review: Boo Bamboo Revitalizing Conditioning Treatment
Considering the amount of stress we put our hair through on a daily basis with heat, styling, teasing and colouring, we should all be thinking about using hair mask on a regular basis. A nourishing hair mask can make a big difference in the shine and strength of your hair. They’re especially important if you have dry, damaged, frizzy or very long hair. Plus, since hair masks are packed with hydrating and restorative ingredients, they help to replenish and bring out the best in your hair. Still, I had concerns about trying a new mask – what if it made my hair greasy? Will it wash out properly when I try to remove it? Do I have to sit around and wait for hours if I want to use one? This month I tried the Boo Bamboo Conditioning Treatment and so many of those myths were busted!
I have fine, straight hair that I typically curl most days, so it gets put through a lot of stress on a daily basis. When looking for hair masks or treatments, I therefore look for moisturizing or conditioning products that will restore and add shine to my hair (without making it look greasy). With fine hair, I often find that some masks are just too much, especially if used as directed and applied to my entire head (to avoid such a look I usually just apply it to the ends). Tip – if you do find that your hair is greasy after you apply a mask, it’s likely that you’re using one that is too heavy for your hair type. So, look for one that’s specific to your hair type and don’t go overboard with the application – a little goes a long way.
The Boo Bamboo Conditioning Treatment is part of the Boo Bamboo Hair car range, which has gotten great feedback and reviews among natural, as well as mass hair care users. Boo Bamboo uses bamboo, which according to them is nature’s fasting growing plant that can also make your hair strong and shiny! Rich in mineral and organic proteins, bamboo extract helps to retain moisture and condition the hair, promoting shine. Formulated with certified organic bamboo extracts, their products are also supposed to help strengthen the hair follicle and eliminate frizz.
Sounds too good to be true, right? The Boo Bamboo Conditioning Treatment has all the things you could ever ask for if you’re looking for effective, natural hair care products: organic ingredients, no parabens or sulfates, and they’re cruelty free! The revitalizing formula is made with bamboo extract and organic protein so it’s supposed to absorb quickly and help to repair and strengthen hair. It’s also supposed to reduce frizz and be safe for colour-treated hair, so should be an all-around great treatment for all hair types. Plus - it also smells wonderful – not overpowering, but it definitely make the experience even more enjoyable.
I tried the treatment two ways; 1. After washing my hair, I applied the treatment and left it on my hair for 10 minutes while I was in the shower and rinsed it off with cool water (this is supposed to help seal in the cuticle of the hair). 2. On another occasion, after washing my hair, I applied the treatment, wrapped my hair in a towel and slept in it overnight. Option number 1 is definitely more aligned to my current hair care routine – I like a simple routine that doesn’t interfere or take up too much time. But, the results from leaving it in overnight were something I could try and commit to maybe once a month. Honestly, my hair looked pretty good (if I do say so myself).
After using the treatment, my hair felt moisturized, smooth and crazy soft! I think it also looked shinier, but that may have been wishful thinking. I found that given the amount of heat I apply to my hair, it helped in restoring my hair from some of the damage – after a month of using this weekly, I can definitely see and feel a difference in my hair. What I was the most impressed with was that this was a natural product, made without all the chemicals you often find in hair treatments, and it was at least as effective as others I’ve tried, if not more. So if that’s your thing, I definitely recommend giving this treatment a go. And, if you love it, they have an entire range of shampoos, conditioners, serums, sprays etc.
