A Guide to Seeds (for humans, not birds)

A Guide to Seeds (for humans, not birds)

Granola, salad, muffins, spreads on toast: a lot of food is made yummier and more nutritious by adding nuts and nut-based products. But so many people have nut allergies with serious consequences if they ingest or come in contact with nuts. So what are we to do in this world filled with nut-free zones?

Expand your Blender Horizons: Beyond the Smoothie

Expand your Blender Horizons: Beyond the Smoothie

Smoothies are delicious. Smoothies are nutritious. Smoothies are a quick, convenient way to jam pack nutrients into a glass. Definitely keep making smoothies in your blender, whether you're partial to a veggie-filled green drink, or a banana peanut butter variation, because smoothies are THE YUMMIEST. But your loved smoothie-making-machine, the blender, might get a little tired of whipping up fruit and yogurt into smoothies all the time...

What I Eat In A Day ~ Plant-Based

What I Eat In A Day ~ Plant-Based

With all of the Olympic excitement going around, there's a bit more inspiration to thrive to be the best in what ever it is you are going for, am I right?
I have a great sense of nostalgia watching the games and hearing about the athlete's stories. It has been 6 years since I competed in the Olympics (where does time go!?), yet the butterflies are still there when I start thinking about the feeling I had in the start gate.

Tastes Good and Good for You!

Tastes Good and Good for You!

Nothing beats the smell of homemade cookies – except maybe the way they taste straight out of the oven. As I'm becoming more health conscious, I'm trying to find more ways to cut sugar from my family's diet. At first I wasn't sure how to do this with my favourite oatmeal raisin/chocolate chip cookie recipe. The recipe calls for not one, but two cups of sugar! And to make it worse (or should I say worse for you), a cup of butter! No wonder they taste so good, right? But how can you cut out these ingredients that are not the best for your health without sacrificing taste? I thought I may have found the answer when I stumbled upon a cookie recipe that boasted “Best 3 Ingredient Cookie Recipe.” It sounded easy enough; all you needed was ripe bananas, oatmeal and raisins. I whipped up a batch of these sugar-free cookies, popped them in my kids' lunches and hoped for the best.
