The Review: Kalaya Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid Concentrate
Need a new concentrate to add to your skin care regimen? This month, I was able to test out one of Kalaya’s newest products - the Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Concentrate [side note - they also have a new Cannabis Sativa Concentrate that I’m super intrigued by]! Anyway, the Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid Concentrate has been formulated with therapeutic concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C and is designed to brighten, nourish and protect! This unique formula has been created to prevent free radical damage, maximize the conditions for collagen synthesis and reverse the signs of premature aging.
The Brand: Kalaya
Kalaya formulations target specific skin issues and in my experience, provide unbelievable results. I love that I'm able to trust that their products are safe and natural to use because Kalaya believes that nature offers an abundance of safe and effective alternatives. They also ensure that all of their products are paraben-free, sulphate-free, and never tested on animals!
The Product: Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid Concentrate
With careful analysis this product was formulated by both a cosmetic physician and a pharmacist. Ultimately, it's based on your personal preference of the skin care regimen order you want to apply this Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid Concentrate. For best results it’s recommended to use after the last product in your skin care regimen so it’s able to sit on the surface of your skin. The benefit of being the last product applied to your face is that it can fully protect your skin from free radical damage.
The Ingredients: Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid & Ferulic Acid
This concentrate is designed with three key anti-aging ingredients:
- Vitamin C: an anti-aging ingredient that boosts collagen production to reduce fine lines. It’s also an antioxidant it helps to prevent against oxidative damage.
- Hyaluronic Acid: intensely hydrates the skin and locks in moisture for younger-looking skin
- Ferulic Acid: a natural antioxidant that protects against environmental damage
The 411: How to Use it
Ever get confused about what order you have to apply your skin care products to get the best results? Same! The formulators of this new concentrate recommend that you use it as the last product in your skin care regime. Some of the ingredients in this particular concentrate (like Vitamin C) are intended to sit on the surface of your skin to protect against oxidative damage, so by putting a moisturizer on top of it, you’re kinda preventing it from doing it’s job. My advice - wait about 30 minutes after your typical cleanse/tone/moisturize routine and then apply the concentrate. Pump it onto the back of your hand (one-to-two pumps is plenty) and then massage it into your face and neck.
The Verdict: A Must-Have
I don’t know about you but a big worry of mine when trying new skin products is whether or not it will cause my skin to break out, so I was super happy when this product didn’t cause any breakouts! I noticed a positive change in the texture of my skin after using it for a month - it was left feeling very smooth and it definitely had a glow about it - my only criticism was that it left me feeling a little tacky which was something I had to adjust to. Because of this I’d probably only use it at night. I also find that my skin gets dried out easily, and this concentrate helped keep in moisture throughout the whole day. Plus, I found that any discolouration I had was reduced. So the verdict - this has got to be my new favourite product and I’ll be adding it to my nightly skin care regimen!
